HOUR Detroit All Star Spotlight: Chris DeRosier
Chris DeRosier, also known as “Your Mortgage Guy Chris,” has been recognized as a 2021 HOUR Detroit Real Estate All Star - Mortgage Broker. Chris is a Loan Consultant and the Sales Development Manager for John Adams Mortgage.
Chris has worked in the mortgage industry for the past nine years. He was raised in a real estate family, so his wisdom has been shaped throughout his entire life. “Growing up with a Realtor for a mother, I knew working in the real estate industry was always going to happen,” Chris said. “A friend of mine was working for another company and convinced me that the mortgage side was where I would be best at.” Chris started his career at a large national lender and worked his way up there before leaving to join the John Adams team.
When Chris first started his career, he didn’t realize just how much his role made a difference. Chris reflected, “The first deal I ever wrote didn’t close. I didn’t dig as deep as I should have on the client's qualifications, which resulted in them not qualifying.” Chris continued, “It was a horrible feeling that I haven’t forgotten, so I always make sure to take the time to properly qualify up front because there are lives on the other end of the transaction, not just a loan number.”

If you’ve worked with Chris, you’ll recognize how much heart he puts into everything he does. Famous for his “The Grind Includes Friday” social media posts, Chris is available for his clients and real estate agents at all hours of the day.
Chris’ main goal is to make sure his client is well informed and confident in the decisions they are making. Chris said, “We take for granted all of the knowledge we have. We talk about financing real estate more in any given day than most of our clients do in their entire lives, so they don’t know what they don’t know. I never get frustrated with questions because it means that they trust me enough to ask.”

Over the years, Chris has learned how to turn challenges into solutions for his clients. When asked to give advice to loan consultants who are working toward an All Star status, Chris shared, “This industry will raise you up and drop you back down in the same day. Learn to surf the waves as early as you can, but always stay humble.”
Driven by helping as many families as possible, Chris hopes that at the end of the day, his clients know they can always rely on their Mortgage Guy. Chris concluded with why he loves his job, “In some small way, I get to help someone build their story that they will tell someone about someday.”
